Hmm…“Dinner parties” is an inadequate term for these regular gatherings. Let’s call them Feasts. Big giant Feasts that make a typical Thanksgiving dinner look like a light snack. Think I’m exaggerating? Check out the Cuban-inspired menu she served at my 30th birthday party last night:
Dinner:
- Cuban Skirt Steak
- Purple Potatoes with Mango Butter
- Dirty Rice
- Cuban Black Beans
- Tostones
- Mango Salsa
- Guacamole
- Chimchurri Sauce
- Mango Lemonade
- Mojitos
Dessert:
- Key Lime Pie
- Mojito Cupcakes
- Flan
- Brownie Lollipops
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Mango Ice Cream
I’m still full!
Now that I’ve got you salivating, let’s talk details. These Feasts will occur the first Saturday of every month, starting October 3. Our dining table isn’t a half-mile long so we have to cap our guest list at 10 people. (I’m not-so-secretly hoping that as demand increases, I can convince Crystal to host these gatherings as frequently as once a week).
We’re not rich. There, I said it. Because we’re not rich, we’re asking each guest to pitch in ten bucks to help pay for the ingredients of the meal.
So that’s the details. First Saturday of the month, 10 people, 10 bucks each. Plus you get the opportunity to hang out with our daughter Bronwyn, officially the coolest person in the world, on a Saturday.
Crystal will use this blog to post menus, updates and tantalizing pictures of what comes out of her kitchen. Be sure to leave comments to help feed her ego!
Big ego = big food.
